Black Maul brown willow from the 2023/2024 crop. Due to weather conditions, it did not dry as well, and some rods are slightly discoloured.
This variety is suitable for sculpture and craft projects for weavers of all abilities.
We do not recommend using it for your best baskets.
No refunds or returns are available for this product.
The longer the rod, the thicker it will be. A 6ft rod is around the same thickness as a pencil.
Brown (dry) willow requires soaking and mellowing to make it pliable.
Black Maul can be boiled and stripped for buff rods, stripped of its bark when in full leaf to produce white willow, and steamed in a boiler to turn the rods a deeper colour.
Willow is sold by weight. Approximate number of rods per kilo; 3ft - 210 rods, 4ft - 155 rods, 5ft - 85 rods, 6ft - 65 rods, 7ft - 40 rods, 8ft - 25 rods, 9ft - 20 rods
