Long willow rods suitable for weaving hurdle fence panels, in situ fencing, roundhouses and wattle panels. Rods require soaking and mellowing to make pliable. 100 - 140 rods per bundle.
2.5 - 3 hurdle wads are required to make a 6ft x 6ft (1.8m 1.8m) hurdle panel. Each dry hurdle willow wad weighs 6.5kg.

Brown (dry) willow is placed in a boiler for a few hours to colour it a chocolate / black colour. It is then left to dry outside. Soak and mellow to make flexible.

Whissender is similar to Black Maul. The yellowy rods are stout and robust – ideal for big work.
Whissender isn’t as flexible as Black Maul and is a variety better suited to more experienced weavers.
A striking lime green/yellow colour when first cut. As the bark dries it turns a warm brown/yellow colour.
Requires soaking and mellowing.
