Whissender is similar to Black Maul. The striking lime green/yellow rods are stout and robust – ideal for big work. As the bark dries the rods turn a warm brown/yellow colour.
Green (fresh cut) willow does NOT require soaking.

A member of the Salix Purpurea variety. The top section of the willow turns a purple/dark brown when dry. An unsorted bundle will contain various different lengths. There may be grass and/or weeds in the bundle.
The dark colour gives Brittany Green a rustic feel making it a great choice for weaving medieval or re-enactment baskets.
Requires soaking and mellowing to make pliable.

Use for structural work. The smallest ones are ideal as handle bows. The other sizes can be used for main frames or uprights of baskets, as plant supports, or in hurdles and garden edging. These rods are NOT SUITABLE FOR WEAVING WILLOW.
