Product description

This one-day course for intermediate learners will focus on constructing a hanging birdhouse.

This course is intended only for those developing their basketry skills who want to progress to something unusual and different from baskets that use the same skills and techniques.

You should already be competent in:

  • 3 rod wale
  • selection of rods for different parts of a basket

The course will cover:

  • working from a wooden/ply base
  • selection of rods
  • control of shape
  • making a flared roof
  • filling spaces and voids with decorative and structural elements
  • joining elements of different shapes and sizes together

Please note:

  • this course is physically demanding and you need a good degree of manual dexterity. 
  • ther is a lot to cover in one day so expect a very  intense course!

What do I need to bring?

  • Glasses (if you need them for close-up work).
  • Notebook and pen, if you wish to make notes.
  • Old clothes, covered, flat shoes (no sandals or open toes).
  • Something to tie hair back with (if needed).

All materials included. Suitable for all weaving levels, great for advanced basketmakers 18+.
