A slender stemmed willow which is great for basketry work and sculptures.
The growing rods are a striking dark red/purple colour with small dark green oval shaped leaves. Once the leaf has dropped the rods have a pink/red tinge. When dry, the top section of the willow turns a purple/dark brown. The dark rods can be mistaken for a foraged willow. Semi-dry willow may require soaking and mellowing to make it pliable.
