Black Maul Semi-Dry Willow

Black Maul is a very high-quality basketry willow. The variety is suitable for weavers of all abilities. The longer the rod, the thicker it will be. A 6ft rod is around the same thickness as a pencil.

Semi-dry willow may require soaking and mellowing to make it pliable. Black Maul can be boiled and stripped for buff rods, stripped of its bark when in full leaf to produce white willow, and steamed in a boiler to turn the rods a deeper colour.
