You will be working in pairs and make 4 soaps following the tutor-designed, tried and tested recipes.
As the class progresses we will share the soaps we make with the rest of the class, each leaving with 20 different 50g soaps and all the recipe cards
Each soap will have a different purpose and we will explore the use of specific botanicals, scents etc. to create mood and how/why they have been traditionally applied in beauty products.
We will also discuss responsible sourcing of materials, toxicology, selection/drying/storing materials, adapting recipes, safety in soap making, and how to make soap at home. All soaps are vegan.
Traditionally, willow bark (which contains salicin) has been used to soothe irritated skin, as an anti-inflammatory, an antibacterial, and an alleviator of imputes. In addition to salicin, the bark is high in tannins, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and various minerals, all of which help soothe the skin and aid cell regeneration, promoting a more youthful, refreshed complexion.
