Product description

We will focus on all things French & waling.

We will explore:

• French randing, (working with 1,2 or 3 rods)
• zig zag weave (again with 1, 2 or 3 rods)
• what I call impossible French- (where you have 2 sets working in opposite directions on different levels)
• 3 rod wale & how to produce chase wale, pull down wale, drop 4 rod to 3 rod wale, invisible joins, continuous thickness wale & chevron wale.

Please note- mastering weaves only takes place with repetition/practice. Some of these weaves (particularly the Irish) take time to master the tension, spacing/proportion, & rhythm.

We will not necessarily  be working on a complete basket -you will go home with samples of each weave, either unfinished or made into a ‘collar’ & finished with a simple track border, or they can easily be used as lampshades (table or ceiling)or 1 large tall plywood base basket incorporating all taught techniques.

Suitable for those intermediate students with weaving experience of a number of baskets who want to develop their choice of type/colour of willow & weaves.

Please note:

• this course is physically demanding & you need a good degree of manual dexterity.

What do I need to bring?

Glasses (if you need them for close-up work).
Notebook and pen if you wish to make notes, Old clothes, covered, flat shoes (no sandals or open toes), something to tie hair back with (if needed)

All materials included. Suitable for all weaving levels, great for beginners 18+.
