Learn how to make a random weave basket - a great basket for beginners or for those developing their weaving style.

Using our stunning willow in a variety of lengths and colours, you will design and recreate a truly unique basket to take home.

Random weave is not actually random, it is a considered placement of weavers to fill gaps whilst retaining a thin basket wall. Fun to do and much more relaxing and intuitive than formal basketry.

You will learn

• how to make a frame (from hoops, hazel or driftwood
• how to design with an incorporated handle (if desired)
• selection or rods for structure and weavers
• random weaving
• trimming and tidying the basket

Perfect for beginners or those who have made a few baskets in courses, done sculpture, and want to develop style, control, and learn new weaves.

Mastering this weave is very informative if you wish to do more sculpture work with movement and flow.

All our courses are supported with after-class notes, videos, help/advice sheets and blog content to help you continue your weaving journey.

Please note:

• this course is physically demanding and you need a good degree of manual dexterity.

What do I need to bring?

• Glasses (if you need them for close-up work).
• Notebook and pen if you wish to make notes.
• Old clothes, covered, flat shoes (no sandals or open toes).
• Something to tie hair back with (if needed).

All materials included. Suitable for all weaving levels, great for beginners 18+.
