Skills – Round Bases

Product description

The perfect base is the key to a great basket.

In this one-day course, we will explore several ways of starting and weaving a round base, which may include:

• english bases
• lock joints
• french randed bases
• butt starts
• bases with a 3 x 3 and 4 x 4slath 
• trimming
• underfoot bases
• curved bases

We will look at the use of bark on and bark off willows and the merits of each, plus how to work out what-sized base to make for what basket. 

You will be focusing on making bases and will leave with several samples of bases, which you can then make into basekts at home. We will not be making a finished basket on the course

Please note:

• this course is physically demanding & you need a good degree of manual dexterity.

What do I need to bring?

• Glasses (if you need them for close-up work).
• Notebook and pen if you wish to make notes.
• Old clothes, covered, flat shoes (no sandals or open toes).
• Something to tie hair back with (if needed).

All materials included. Suitable for all weaving levels, great for beginners 18+.
