Buff willow is natural barked willow that has been processed by boiling in water for approximately 8/9 hours. The boiling process softens the bark to ease its removal and also changes the colour of the willow rod underneath to a warm buff or toffee colour. The bark is then removed by stripping through a machine leaving the rod of willow underneath clean and smooth.

Soaking times:

Buff willow requires only a short soaking time in cold water to become pliable again. Please refer to the individual lengths for further soaking information. Do this the night before it is required and then wrap in a wet blanket to mellow overnight for use the following day.
