Dicky Meadows Brown (Dry) Willow
Dicky meadows are of the Purpurea family and have just as slender a rod as the Brittany Green. Dicky meadows have a more yellow stemmed rod and a much lighter leaf colour whilst growing, in comparison to Brittany Green. They are much sort after for fine basketry and are also used in the Jewish Festival of Sukkot. Agriculturally, Sukkot is a harvest festival and in the synagogue, each congregant says a blessing over four different species of plants - a palm branch (lulav), citron (esrog), myrtle branch and willow twig - which are representative of the four different types of Jewish person.
