Black Maul is a very high quality basketry willow. The variety is suitable for weavers of all abilities. The longer the rod, the thicker it will be. A 6ft rod is around the same thickness as a pencil. An unsorted bundle will contain various different lengths. There may be grass and/or weeds in the bundle.
Brown (dry) willow requires soaking and mellowing to make it pliable.
