Product description

Learn how to make an oval willow basket with beautiful willows grown here on the farm - a great basket for those wanting to develop on from willow basket round work.

You will learn:

  • oval bases- weave, control and spacing for different sized ovals
  • selection of rods for stakes & weavers
  • staking up
  • pull down wale
  • French rand
  • 5 behind 2 border (possibly follow in if time allows)
  • working with a hoop handle
  • wrapping a handle
  • trimming & tidying the basket

Perfect for those who have made a few round work baskets and want to develop style, control and learn new weaves.

All our courses are supported with after class notes, videos and help/advice sheets and blog content to help you continue your weaving journey.

Please note:

  • this course is physically demanding and you need a good degree of manual dexterity
  • you will need to understand basic willow terminology and have made a number of round baskets independently in order to be at the correct level for this course

What do I need to bring?

  • Glasses (if you need them for close-up work).
  • Notebook and pen if you wish to make notes.
  • Old clothes, covered, flat shoes (no sandals or open toes).
  • Something to tie hair back with (if needed).

All materials included. Suitable for all weaving levels, great for beginners 18+.
