White willow
Creating white willow takes time and a great deal of effort. Our highest quality green willow is cut in winter and ‘pitted‘ – left to stand in water until the sap rises in the spring. The willow is then stripped of its bark (without boiling) to leave a white colour rod.
For the best results, rods need to be stripped, dried and stored in a single day. Find out more.
Willow is measured against a rule marked in foot increments. A 5ft bundle of rods may contain a range of rods from 4ft to 5ft long.
White willow is sold in bundles and half bundles. 1kg bundles are sometimes available. Decide on the length of willow rods you require and the available bundle weights will be displayed.
