We are flexible though - so don't worry if you are not quite finished, the times are not regimented! You are most welcome to stay a while longer. If you have to leave us before you are fully finished, students are most welcome to take some additional material to complete the last little bits at home. However, basketry class students will all go home with a completed basket.
Our tutors are some of the most experienced willow weavers in the UK. They will ensure you have the very best instruction and help throughout your day with us at Musgrove Willows.
Class numbers are small with a maximum of 8 students on sculpture and basketry. The seasonal craft workshops can have up to 12 students, but we do provide additional support for the larger groups.
No previous experience is necessary to attend any of the willow weaving workshops held at Musgrove Willows. Complete beginners will amaze themselves with what they can achieve under the guidance of the tutor. Students will leave with not only a wonderful woven product but also with an instruction leaflet so that they may be able to re-create their chosen project at home.
Refreshments are available throughout the day. A fresh home cooked lunch is provided for all of our courses. With this in mind please can you advise us of any dietary requirements or allergies that we should be aware of when booking to ensure that your day runs as smoothly as possible.
Our Course Room does have a lovely wood burning stove for when its chilly but still dress appropriately for the time of year your workshop is being held. Please wear sensible footwear as we also give course students a guided tour of the working willow farm (if time allows).
Materials that you will be working with are entirely natural, all of which are grown here at Musgrove Willows. More often than not, you will use damp soaked willow so do please wear appropriate clothing - nothing too smart and definitely no white! We will provide you with an apron if you wish.
All toolsand materials will be provided and you will take home whatever you make. Do be aware if you are making hurdles or plant climbers that they will have to fit in your car! We can however at an additional cost, arrange a courier service to deliver your items to your home if you have got too carried away!
Full Disabled Access is available to both the workshops and rest room facilities. A tour of the farm is also wheelchair friendly. Please do contact us if you have any specific requirements.
Additional courses are added throughout the year, especially as some of our more popular courses sell out very quickly. If a course you like is full then please do let us know as we may be able to put on an extra date or place you on a reserve list in the event of any cancellations.
Private Workshops, Corporate Days And One to One Tuition can be arranged at your convenience. If you have a group of friends or colleagues wanting to do a willow weaving course altogether then please do contact us to discuss your specific requirements further.
Please see the courses section of our Terms & Conditions for full details.
