Paul Weir

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Weir.

Paul was a highly respected and hugely talented weaver. His extraordinary skills were recognised by The Worshipful Company of Basketmakers – Paul was a long-standing Yeoman member.

The team at Musgrove Willows had the pleasure of working with Paul for many years. Paul ran coffin making courses on our farm and used our willow to great effect. He made an incredible array of willow products. Among these were specialist projects for vintage cars and motorcycles and commissions for The Royal Household. Paul was a ‘go-to person’ for many of the more challenging and specialist pieces that we received enquiries about. He never let us down.

An ex-RAF Warrant Officer (who retrained as a basket-maker later in life), Paul ran Bedfordshire Basketmakers with his wife Di. The skills that Paul has imparted and the pieces that he has made ensure a lasting legacy. His son and two daughters, his stepson and wife Di are in our thoughts.

Thank you, Paul, for bringing so much weaving joy to the world. You will be greatly missed.
