You are viewing: White Willow |
Black Maul willow is sorted into different lengths after cutting and 'pitted' in shallow water tanks to allow them to continue to grow.
Usually during May, the willow is stripped of its bark whilst in full leaf, this exposes a stark white rod underneath. The willow has to be stripped, dried and brought in the same day to prevent yellowing.
Soaking times for white willow is the same as buff willow, approx 1-2 hrs in cold water and wrap in a damp blanket overnight to mellow.
