Brown (or dried) willow is natural green willow that has been dried with its bark on. It is most suited to outdoor sculpture work, basketry and hurdles as it still has its outer skin for protection.
As a rule of thumb soak brown willow in cold water for a foot a day to make it pliable enough to weave with, e.g. a 3ft bundle of will need 3 days soaking time, a 6ft bundle will need 6 days soaking time.
